Reporting Absences

  • Absences must be reported by the parent. This needs to be reported to the school office between 8:30 and
    9am.
  • You can phone the school at any point and leave an answering machine message using option 1.
  • You can email Miss Oldham on infodiscoveryhyde@victoriousacademies.org
  • You should not inform or email class teachers or breakfast club staff regarding absences or appointments.
  • If you have not reported a child’s absence by 9 am we will follow our absence policy and make calls home
    or complete home visits.

We now have a new phone answering system with an automated voice recording to start. This is not the answering machine and so please listen carefully to the options before selecting. Below is a transcript of the message with some additional information.
Thank you for calling Discovery Academy. Note calls may be recorded for monitoring and training purposes. Please select one of the following options:Press 1 to report a Child’s Absence – This will allow you to leave a voice mail about absence and will not go directly through to the office or to answer.
Press 2 for Senco – This will allow you to leave a voice mail for Mrs Mayers and will not go directly through to the office or to answer
Press 3 for Wellbeing – This will allow you to leave a voice mail for Miss Bentley-Dawson and will not go directly to the office or to answer
Press 4 for the Office – This will put you directly through to Miss Oldham in the office
Press 5 for Facilities Management – This will allow you to leave a voice mail for the Site manager and Caretaker and will not go directly to the office
or press 6 for Finance – This will allow you to leave a voice mail about parent pay, invoices and finance issues for Mrs McKew and will not go directly to the office or to answer

Our Deputy Principal is Mark Walsh and our Assistant Principal is Emma Collins.

The SENDCO at Discovery Academy is Mrs Mayers.

The Chair of our Local Governing Body, Aimee Clare and they can be contacted via the Academy office.

A paper copy of specific information found on our website can be provided free of charge upon request at the school office.
