The Pupil Premium is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to possible under achievement. These include pupils who are entitled to free school meals, those looked after by the local authority and children of armed service personnel. The intended effect of this funding is to accelerate progress and raise attainment. Pupil Premium is allocated to schools and should be clearly identifiable.
It is our responsibility to ensure that all children in the Academy achieve their potential and in order to do so we seek to meet the individual needs of every child. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility. Pupil Premium will be used and managed by us to enable us to tailor support for identified children in a range of ways appropriate to their needs. All schools are required to report on the amount of funding received, how this is being used, and the impact of any work done. Since 2021, the Government have recommended that schools plan for three years and update this with yearly outcomes. The reviewed plan and statement is presented to the Local Governing Board each Autumn term.
